The Art of Elias Friedensohn

Among the unifying themes in Friedensohn's work are secret urges and secret fears. The force of a secret, he wrote about his '60's painting, distorts experience. The secret within craves release, confession. Twenty years later, in works titled "Anatomies,"  he took another stab at the inner life;
he painted inner organs as repositories of secrets and reminders of our desperate, human urge to communicate.
